Linda McManus Images
is a collection of my wide-ranging artwork. I studied black and white fine art photography, which remains my first love and am still momentarily breathless every time I see a Brassai image. I guess the fine art side lead me to entertain other creative processes. So to say my work has evolved to include other styles and techniques, would be an understatement.

Early on I found myself dissatisfied with just the straight photograph. While I do love photography as a single breathtaking image, I have always found myself wanting more. Subsequently, I would spend hours in the darkroom trying to burn here, dodge there, sandwich negatives together to create a unique look. I was mostly happy with the result, but it wasn’t always as close as what I had intended. So needless to say, when “digital” hit, for me it was all over. My creativity was unleashed and I finally had a way to create the images I saw in my head. Much different from the darkroom, they actually looked like what I had envisioned!

So here I am with all these vastly different series of images. Now what? Well actually, at one of my past jobs, I found an ad for a greeting card designer, and then the proverbial light bulb went off. As a result, I created yet another series of images and submitted them and…was turned down. BUT, I submitted them and others from my “library” to other greeting card companies and they sold! So that’s when my company Linda McManus “Images” was born. People often ask, “You are a photographer; why not name your company “Linda McManus Photography?” Well the simple answer is that my work is more than photography, with images to fill whatever spot in the marketplace they serve best. And to be totally honest, I can’t creatively hone in on one type of imagery. I have tried and always find myself dancing between the camera, the sketch pad and the computer; then again, sometimes putting them all in a blender to catch a glimpse of what may come out.

I have licensed my images to some of the top greeting card companies, which in turn were sold at Target stores, Carlton Cards and Wegmans to name a few. I have recently crossed over into the home décor world, creating a series of cat images for a company that sells to catalog companies such as Country House, Orvis, and Pot Pourri; and most recently have added Boscov’s to my list of “Where to find”.

In tandem with the licensing, I manufacture my own greeting and note cards to sell wholesale to area stores, and plan on expanding to a broader customer base. My goal is to have my images applied to many products crossing all markets, creating some inspiration and smiles. I have most recently joined Next Day Art for licensing representation and am looking forward to working with their team.

Thus far I have the following lines:
Photography - encompasses traditional and digital photography
Greeting Cards - a mix of cartoon and photographic cards for all occasions

Illuminations - a series of images depicting fairies and children at play
Floral Foods - a series of florals created entirely of photographing food, a must see
Personalized Gifts - photography of rose petals and wooden toy cars arranged in alphabetical letters, great for babies and children’s       room décor
Illustrations - including “Provence”, a series of illustrated street scenes inspired by the Provencal region in France
Carousel Horses - a mix of illustration and digital imaging used to create these nostalgic images of childhood.

I hope you enjoy what you see and stop back often, as the creative mind never shuts off. There are links for licensing and for retailers, as well as a wholesale link. Thanks for visiting!
